TIME CONSUMING- Most People who get involved in online relationship tend to forget everything else and sit in front of the computer almost throughout the day; such activities not only affect their other work but their health as well. They tend to stay online for long periods, skipping meals and sleep and avoiding their responsibilities. These individuals also drift away from family and friends and start experiencing drastic mood swings.
MISLEADING ATTRACTION- You can never really figure out what kind of attraction youíre feeling when you interact with people online. There are several factors that contribute to the feeling of misleading attraction. For instance, you may be lonely and would definitely need someone to talk to. Then you come across somebody online who shares your sympathy and checks on you from time to time. Sometimes, it is neither chemistry nor pure attraction but you just need somebody to talk to in the first place.
PERSONAL CONNECTIONS- Online dating doesn't allow you to talk with your potential date on the phone or in person. When you are able to do this in more traditional dating settings, you can often immediately determine if you have a personal connection with this individual. Email or texting isn't the same as hearing and seeing the individual on a first date. To combat this, consider meeting someone in a public location, but avoid this until you have communicated with that person long enough to feel comfortable with that individual.
COMMUNICATION-online dating, Communication through computers is lacking some of the information provided in face-to-face interaction. As a result, it is harder to evaluate a potential match online. Also, some of the cues and features that build attraction (like touching) cannot be accomplished through a computer. So, such computer-mediated communication may have an artificial and unemotional quality.
ITS FULL OF LIES AND DECEIT- most online daters lie about whether they're single, if they have kids, their job, their looks, you name it. But how are you supposed to know if they're the real deal? It's different when you know them from work or your friends. You can always do a little investigating about whether they are in fact single, what they do for a living and so on.
