It is therefore mandatory for all importers to
complete and register Form 'M' with Authorized Dealers at the time of placing
orders whether the transaction is valid for foreign exchange or not.
WHAT IS FORM M?
Form m is a mandatory statutory documents to be
completed by all importers shipping into Nigeria
Here we are going to guide you through the process of opening Form M,
In obtaining form M, the following procedures are to be followed:
ΓΌ Submit your
Form application online to an Authorized Dealer Bank or through trade.gov.ng along
with the following attached documents:
A consignee needs to get some things set and ready to make sure
that their e-Form ‘M’ application is successful.

need to create a new password.
§ Certificate
of Incorporation (CAC) of the company
§ Proforma
Invoice
§ Insurance
certificate

Product Certificate (for new items)
§ NAFDAC
certificate for all edibles, chemicals, and Pharmaceuticals
§ End
User Certificate for explosives, fireworks, fertilizers, arms, and
ammunition, treated vehicles, private security gadgets, etc.
§ Ministry
of Agriculture, Department of Fisheries permit for
the importation of fish
§ Pharmaceutical
Certificate and Certificate of Retention of premises for the
importation of medicinal drugs.
§ NESREA for
used items
§ Department
of Petroleum Resources (DPR) Permit for petroleum oil
products
§ PHCN
permit for Generating Sets
Upon receipt of the form with the necessary attached
pre-import documents as detailed above, the NCS will review the application and
either accept or reject it within one working day.
1.If
accepted, the NCS approves the request of the importer to import the goods
2.If
rejected, the NCS communicates the reason(s) for rejection and the documents
will be automatically returned for rectification.
When the Form is approved or accepted by the NCS, the importer
informs his exporter to begin shipment preparation for products regulated by
SON. This includes inspection, testing, and certification in order to get a
SONCAP Certificate (SC) required for the Customs clearance of goods at any
Nigerian Port
